The Makerspace in the Learning Commons is a place where students can let their imaginations run wild! There are many activities for the students to work in and projects to be made. There are consumable items and items like Legos and IOs that students can bring ideas to life with. The students are coming to learn how to use the Makerspace and are given the opportunity to create ideas with the Legos, TinkerToys, and IOs. We have so much fun inventing, building, and working as a team to have fun! Even some of the teachers brought their ideas to life! Students explained what they were making and why. Many ideas were taken back to things they have learned or ideas that they have been thinking about. Creative fun is the best!
Sometimes You Just Have to Write on the Tables!
The first grade students were learning how to make their characters move in their drawings. They came to the learning lab in the Learning Commons to write on the tables and make their drawings move and talk! This was so much fun and the students are so creative!
We are practicing our mental math skills by playing a Kahoot on the iPads!
First Grade learned about Lewis and Clark and their Voyage of Discovery. The classes were split into groups and they had to code Lewis or Clark to five different stops on their way to the Pacific. Each Stop had a different activity they had to write in their journals and complete the activity. These first graders are definitely on their way to becoming explorers of their own!
